HISTORY
In 1789, Abbe Bertholon, a European monk first suggested the presence of IONS and their possible effects on humans, but it was not until 1899 that their existence was proved by Elster and Geitel. German Luftwaffe pilots used NEGATIVE ION generators in their fighter cockpits during WW2 to decrease fatigue. They are now used regularly in US submarines.

A. Krueger did the first serious clinical research of IONS in the 1950s. His work was followed up and supported by F. Sulman of Hebrew University in Israel. The work of Krueger and Sulman led to the discovery that NEGATIVE IONS lowered blood levels of SEROTONIN, a hormone found in the brain, glands and gut.
